Rotary District 9800's 2009-2010 District Governor

Bio

Colin Muir Colin joined the Rotary Club of Werribee in 1993 and has held many positions in the club since that time. He was elected President of the Club in 1998-99 the Year of ‘Follow Your Rotary Dream’ and has received PHF and Sapphire recognition from the club. His District appointments have included Assistant Governor of the Westside Cluster for two (2) years 2005-06 and 2006-07, member of District Executive 2006-08, Chairman District Directory Committee and District Secretary 2007-08.

Colin considers amongst his Rotary highlights participation in four International (FAIM) Service projects to Western Samoa, twice to Solomon Islands (RAM and Building Projects) and Goroka in PNG (Safe Water Save Lives). Other International involvement included the formation of a Friendship Club arrangement with the Rotary Club of Sapporo North, Hokkaido Japan and three follow-on goodwill visits to the Japanese Club.

Colin spent 25 years as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force until his retirement in 1990. His RAAF career involved many postings and attachments within Australia, UK and Malaysia as a Radar Specialist Engineer.

On his retirement from the Defence Force Colin, with Pauline’s assistance, operated a small but very successful computer manufacturing company, Muirfield Computer Services, based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. After 18 years in the high pressure computer industry Colin retired from business and returned to the RAAF on a part time basis as an Administrative Officer. He currently holds the Rank of Squadron Leader.

Colin has been involved in a variety of community organisations including as a member of the Board of Directors of the Werribee Football Club (8years). He is also a member of Freemasons Victoria and the local Werribee Lodge.

Colin has been married to Pauline for 35 years and they have two children and four grandchildren. Pauline and Colin live in Werribee and also own a small ‘retreat’ farm at Redesdale in Central Victoria, on the banks of the Campaspe River. They spend many hours in their vegetable patch, large flower garden and orchard.
