Conference 2010

Where on earth but….. Perth (Western Australia)

4th – 7th March 2010

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of North Balwyn for organising such a wonderful and successful conference in Launceston in March 2009. Now it’s the turn of my home club, the Rotary Club of Werribee to organise the next conference and we are already hard at it.

Perth, Western Australia is the location for our 78th Annual Rotary District 9800 Conference. Pauline and I invite you to join us at this wonderful location for what we believe will be an outstanding event.

The conference will be held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, right in the heart of the city from the 4th to 7th March 2010.

Our conference committee is putting together a program that will inform, entertain and provide a great opportunity for fellowship. The conference programs and activities of our Rotary District will be on display once again, together with a showcase of the best that Western Australia has to offer.

We will have a program filled with many interesting speakers. Already, we have secured a number of eminent Western Australians including Australian of the Year, Dr Fiona Wood, and well known business woman, Janet Holmes a Court.

We will engage the best of local entertainment for the conference. I am sure it will be enjoyable and memorable for all attendees.

For all your accommodation needs, Perth is blessed with more than 3,000 beds within 2 kilometres of the conference centre. We will be organising a range of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels, as well as serviced apartments at preferred rates. There will be options to suit everybody.

The conference will commence with an opening cocktail function at King’s Park, overlooking the city of Perth and the Swan River. Kings Park at dusk on the first evening will certainly set the scene for what is to come. The views from Kings Park are spectacular and not to be missed.

For the conference plenary sessions, we have booked a great conference venue. The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre seats over 1,600 with a huge dining room, foyer and large space for displays as well as plenty of room to relax in the house of friendship. The PCEC is situated in parkland just south of the city centre and overlooks the Swan River, Bell Tower and wharves giving the opportunity for attendees to relax during the breaks or after the conference has finished each day.

One of the highlights will be the Formal Gala Dinner to be held at the Government House Ballroom on Saturday 6th March. This magnificent opulent venue is the perfect choice for a Black Tie Dinner. 320 guests will be given the opportunity to dine and be entertained in this recently refurbished facility.

Alternatively, a special function is planned on the Saturday evening with a cruise up the Swan River to a well known winery. The event will be a very relaxed casual function under the stars. For those not wishing to attend the formal Gala Dinner this would be a great opportunity to unwind after the conference or relax before your journey back home or heading to other parts of Western Australia.

The Swan River will also be a focus during the conference with the opportunity for private cruises such as your club dinners and after conference tours. The conference committee will assist with these arrangements.

The conference committee is also in discussions with parties to secure travel deals to Perth. We will be shortly announcing preferred rates with all the recognized carriers. Additionally, chartering of a special aircraft, the ‘Rotary Conference Express’, is also a possibility. Another option you may like to consider is train travel or joining an organized 4WD tour to Perth.

The venues, program, functions, entertainment, and after travel opportunities offered at this conference will make it an event not be missed. Please continue to visit our website for regular updates.

Please come and join us in Perth for an unforgettable experience.
